In 1973, Hassell Ray & Elizabeth York built what is known as H&R Slaughtering and opened their doors in 1974 as a family owned business. When the business started, they offered custom & commercial kill and processing services that supplied several local restaurants in Crosssville and surrounding counties. As time went on, custom processing took over as the primary service in which the business still offers today. There are currently custom processing customers from all over, near and far! However, H&R Slaughtering still has a retail line of custom cut meat that is offered for sale to the public.

Once Elizabeth retired, Robert York and Jerry York took over the business and are still the current owners today. As of 2021, H&R Slaughtering employs 14 full time employees (including Robert's two daughters, Tina & Jennifer), 1 part-time employee, and a few fill-ins from time to time to fulfill the processing of your cattle, hogs, lambs, goats, and deer. Our team is dedicated and strives to provide the best quality products for our customers.
